Abstract

Abstract

Feedback has been shown to be the most effective component of the behavior skills training. Immediacy of feedback delivery allows for the accurate tact of the performance from the trainee. Isolating this component may be an effective method in training supervising or trainer employees to provide corrective feedback that includes essential components including a rationale, pausing, asking open-ended questions, paraphrasing, and displaying empathy. Self-monitoring checklists decrease cost, and provide guidance to have meaningful feedback sessions. A nonconcurrent multiple baseline across participants was used to evaluate the effectiveness of dense and intermittent feedback on increasing participants’ self-monitoring accuracy scores on a feedback delivery checklist. Results indicated that dense feedback increased participants’ self-monitoring accuracy score and fidelity scores during role-play sessions. Generalization was present for some participants. Limitations and future implications of procedural effectiveness are discussed.
