Mohamed Abdirama is a graduate student in the MA TESL program at St. Cloud State University. He was born in Muqdisho, Somalia and immigrated to the U.S.A. when he was ten years old, settling with his family in Virginia and living there for five and a half years. His family later moved to Minnesota, where he has lived for the past fourteen and a half years. His research interests include vocabulary acquisition and second language accents. He plans to devote his master's thesis to Somali VOT patterns and bilabial stop consonants. He hopes to pursue a Ph.D. in linguistics.
