Abstract
These two poems address issues concerning my parents' death. "Imago" (a terms from Lacanian psychoanalytic theory) addresses the uncanny moment of recognition when the speaker see his own mortality when recognizing features of his father's face in his own reflection. "Out of My Hands" explores what comes next--not the afterlife, per se, but what to do with the bodies and why and who gets to decide. Below is a short bio note:
Roger W. Hecht has published two poetry collections, Talking Pictures and Witness Report, and his work has appeared in such journals as Gargoyle, Book of Matches, Puerto del Sol, Diagram, and Denver Quarterly. He teaches literature and creative writing at SUNY Oneonta.
