Abstract
Lecture 29
29 Integral membrane proteins.
This lecture in biochemistry discusses integral membrane proteins and peripheral membrane proteins, the former held to the membrane by the hydrophobic effect and the latter by electrostatic forces. Various structures are explored including beta barrels, single helix membrane spanning proteins, seven helix membrane spanning proteins, fatty acid linked proteins, prenylated proteins (farnesyl and geranylgernyl modified ) and glycosylphospatidylinositol modified proteins.
