Abstract
This master's thesis presents the design and development of a broadband bioimpedance spectroscopy device that is capable of generating period and non-period excitations. Bioimpedance analysis have been widely used and researched not only for medical, but also non- medical applications. There is a need for a more flexible system when dealing with time varying biological impedances, as most of the devices available on the market either use a single frequency as stimuli or perform a sweep over a frequency range. This thesis gives an overview of the background on bioimpedance and the different methods and approaches currently available. Then, the design and development of the system, consisting of the hardware, firmware and software are presented. The results obtained with the designed system are presented along with the problems encountered during its implementation.
