Abstract
Nonfiction memoir writing has generally been the linear telling of an individual’s life experience. However, in recent years, authors have re-imagined this genre, weaving in aspects of fictional expression to create a lived experience of their world, moving backward and forward in time; creating poetry and imagined realities designed to transport their reader to another place and time, in step with the author’s emotional journey. Writing such as this is designed to create a shared space, invoke feelings of discombobulation, as well as the uncertainty of what could be coming next—a sensation many people experience as they are carried forward on the wave of life.

Comments/Acknowledgements
Deep personal appreciation for those who strengthened my writing, and who encouraged me to do the work I clearly knew how to do, instead of trying to force a square peg into a round hole. Special recognition to my constant cheerleader, elicitor, inspiration, and all-around amazing human, Dave Taylor. If it wasn’t for you, these words would have never seen the light of day. Thank you for insisting I discover them.
I am forever grateful.
