Abstract
The purpose of this starred paper is to examine whether introducing 1:1 computing devices, such as iPads or Chromebooks, into a classroom has a positive effect on student achievement, as well as looking at best practices in deploying the technology. Chapter 1 introduces the topic and outlines the importance of the study, and Chapter 2 reviews existing literature on the topic. Chapter 3 gives the account of action research done in three different deployments of 1:1 devices in three different school settings before comparing what was observed in the schools to the literature and giving conclusions and recommendations.
