Abstract
This study examined relationships between work-specific locus of control, job complexity, and job satisfaction, and discerned their specific applicability in a vocational setting. The following hypotheses were put forth: work-specific locus of control would be positively related to job complexity, work specific locus of control would be positively related to job satisfaction, job complexity would be positively related to job satisfaction, and job complexity would mediate the relationship between work-specific locus of control and job satisfaction. Three of the four hypotheses were not supported, with the exception of a positive relationship found between job complexity and job satisfaction. This paper discusses possible reasons for the data failing to substantiate the hypotheses. Additionally, this paper examines post-hoc analyses of the relationship between job complexity and job satisfaction, and makes suppositions as to the relevance of this strong positive relationship.
